It's 13 degrees F in NYC this morning. The Park is a winter wonderland.
Church membership decline
I hope these protesters do not return home tonight to a heated house. Related: The Farce of Global Warming at Am Thinker
Do Congress' kids...

I am fully convinced of the evil of Teacher Unions, and their effects on Education. Four years on the edges of DC education make those very clear. That said, the Figures above are not all that impressive. The fact that the funds forcibly extracted from every teacher in America only add up to as much lobbying as two military contractors (out of dozens?) or a single oil company is surprising on the low side rather than the high. Can't be too impressive to those outside the choir. I'm in the choir, and I'm not wowed.

Having you recently been reading books written in times when extremely long sentences were fashionable? Please, do your readers a favor and pick up The Old Man And The Sea before it's too late!

The West Wing handled this topic really well. The Democratic president was repeatedly challenged about his opposition to School Choice in DC. He gave standard answers about how the public system needed to be defended. Charlie, his manservant, (and a DC local) told the president he should forget about ideology if it could give the poor a better education than they would get in the public system.

For a left-wing show, I thought that was surprisingly thoughtful.

'As time goes on, I think the relevant social science is going to brutalize the standard Democratic position, and the clash between the Democratic Party’s most powerful client and the poor will become increasingly stark.'

I hope you're right about this Will. School choice is not a new issue though. Been around for a while. Depressing.
