[...] Will Wilkinson disagrees. I stand between the two. I think it is often tempting to pretend that you are ‘not good at time management’ when you are either lazy or demotivated. But I also think that time management skills can be improved – primarily by adopting a relentlessly single-minded approach to your tasks, for example: [...]

I'm not quite sure what you were trying to say, though in my opinion at least, Time cannot be managed. Only you can manage your actions, never the time itself

It's only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on earth -- and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up, we will then begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it was the only one we had.

Hello

In the book shops.Amazon.com, e-book etc out soon;
SHADOWS WITHIN by J.S.Sark published by Strategic publishing New York

After having my emails hacked into and my phone tapped and being followed by a mysterious black car, losing my marriage, home and my son. The result is an explosive expose that investigates the use of CCTV cameras and vast data bases in the UK and their link to a deadly world wide organisation.

I contacted solicitors, police, major radio stations and newspapers but only silence giving further evidence of a Masonic type of control.

As I scrutinised the facts that I obtained I uncovered shocking information about things that those in power do not want you to know in the UK, USA and Europe.

SHADOWS WITHIN the book they don’t want you to read peals back the layers of secrecy surrounding numerous events including

•	How surveillance by the British Government invades the lives of UK citizens
•	Dr David Kelly’s mysterious death
•	Why a German SS combat unit were invited to the UK in 1947
•	The purpose behind the UK police taking DNA samples of thousands of children
•	What really happened to Albino Luciani the pope for thirty days
•	The connection between 9/11 and Derby UK
•	Who really murdered JFK
•	And MUCH more

I am absolutely convinced there is a world wide Masonic organisation that is deadlier than P2 (Mentioned in David Yallops book `In The Name of God’ ) that controls men at the very top of power.

If you would like the above book and signed by the author contact him now.

Hello

In the book shops.Amazon.com, e-book etc out soon;
SHADOWS WITHIN by J.S.Sark published by Strategic publishing New York

After having my emails hacked into and my phone tapped and being followed by a mysterious black car, losing my marriage, home and my son. I decided to look into things myself.

Thank you for using the word akrasia! Now I have that lovely word, along with the term "psychological egoism", to brandish like elegant and finely-made swords, next time I am find myself gobsmacked by this same piece of silliness.

Nice post. More generally, I'm gobsmacked by people--whether philosophers or economists, and it's usually one of the two--who deny that akrasia exists and is important. Sigh.

I agree with Will's general perspective, but I would caution again the facile assumption that higher-order desires are somehow more "real" or indicative of the "true" self. They may simply reflect the reification of first-order desire that are being more or less frustrated in the status quo. Your "true" self, if there is one, may well represent a compromise between competing desires or levels of desire.

If you take multiple selves seriously, then the difficulty (I won't say impossibility) of interpersonal utility comparisons comes into play. There may just be a genuine conflict of interests between different selves. When someone says they want to develop better time management skills, that might just be one (currently frustrated) self looking for a better strategy to use in its ongoing conflict with other selves.

Well, my experience is that the marginal cost of improving time management is very high. There are almost no effectively biding precommitment contracts, and the cost of getting into one is steep.

I'll add a query: what does "Getting Things Done" sell for? That's about its marginal value. It doesn't reflect a big shift in time use.
