Saw this at the Hirshhorn today. Awesome…
I can’t say I really care all that much about the explanation. I just found it completely transfixing in the gallery.

I blush for you.

Thanks, Steve. You’re a gem.

WW, with all due respect:
If you find yourself “transfixed” by that video, and admit it, then you’re going to have a hard time convincing anybody over the age of 16 that any of your opinions on the arts are worth the time it takes to read them.

First, that Missy Ellot song is amazing, whatever you might think Mr Fancypants. Second, it’s all really funny and clever if you get the backstory. Third, on a big-ish screen in a gallery, it is amusingly hypnotic. Do I think it’s great art. No. Did I enjoy it? Hell yes. Unclench, my friend.

Heh. I like that: “unclench.”
But seriously: if you’re going to play the snob when it comes to Bouguereau vs. Rothko, you might want to exercise a little more discretion when it comes to your *own* guilty pleasures.

Ah, so Wilkinson’s aesthetic preferences run the entire gamut, from the inhuman sterility of Modernist architecture to the mindless wankery of Postmodern performance art…
I guess it’s true what they say: even at Northern Iowa University, you can’t teach taste.

Now there’s another phrase I like: “the mindless wankery of Postmodern performance art.
Could any mots be more juste?
