I think (I hope it&#039;s obvious) that creativity and intellectual engagement are profoundly satisfying, and that this is indeed something that can get better with age. But for better or worse, most people are not so engaged in this way, which is why you see many, many magazine and TV ads for golfing communities in Florida with lots of other planned activities, and none for philosophy academies for retirees. Could be a good niche idea, though!</description>

Do you think FA Hayek in his later years was mainly psychically sustained by his relative ~financial satisfaction~? Would you say that about any older artists or professors emeriti you&#039;ve known? For people who&#039;ve led engaged, creative, productive lives (which is a lot of us), this just seems incomplete. There are deeper concerns -- have I fulfilled my life&#039;s mission, have I made the right kind of impact on the world, have I lived a moral life, how can I best apply my experience or advise younger generations or be of service to others, etc.</description>
