What, it was obvious from the tactics employed that this is what he really wanted. Sort of saying that “You realize this applies to you, too” to the aduience who would be most effective at stopping such a thing.

That’s already illegal, at least according to the FEC and Trevor Potter. No disclaimer. You didn’t say who paid for it or whether Smith approved your express advocacy.
Sure, there are cases that say your speech is free speech, but no ruling from the Supremes on the FEC’s disclaimer rules.
I’ll cheerfully join you in civil disobedience tho – Brad Smith for President. Vote Smith.
